Modern Websites – A vital tool for any business

An up-to-date website is now considered a vital tool for any business. Customers today use Google and other major search engines to find everything from their local plumber to a place to eat out.
Newer technologies and faster connection speeds mean that increasing numbers are connecting to the Internet each day, but the way in which customers are using the Internet is changing, providing new opportunities for your business.
Modern websites need to be dynamic, collaborative and social. Increasingly customers expect to ‘engage’ with a company or brand online and in a variety of ways.
The term ‘Web 2.0′ is often used to describe this ‘second generation’ of Internet standards. Whereas the ‘old’ Internet was all about static content and online information, the ‘new’ Internet is about dynamic, user-generated content and integration with ‘social media’.
This change is altering the way in which businesses now need to build customer relationships through their website.
Vistors expect richer content and a greater variety – from audio and video podcast, blogs and online forums – to better integration of social networking features.
Although this new ‘web culture’ provides a richer customer experience, careful consideration does need to be given as to how your business can implement and manage these new technologies. Online visitors now expect immediacy in their online interactions, where content is updated on a regular basis and where any comments they make are quickly replied to.
There are more choices than ever before for customers online, so businesses need to balance accessibility and usability with richer and more engaging content.
